Big name opioid analgesic overdoses highlights need for RTPM

It has been two weeks since NRL League players were hospitalised from an accidental opioid analgesic overdoses. It is crucial for us to continue calling for the urgent implementation of a real time prescription monitoring system, such as DrShop to prevent opioid analgesic overdoses in the future. This incident continues to highlight the dangers of prescription medicines and how the abuse of these medicines is on the rise. Recent data shows a 180 per cent increase in Oxycodone prescriptions from 2002 to 2009.
